obfuscate4e at the Eclipse DemoCamp in Hamburg
Last monday we went to Hamburg (in the north of Germany) to attend the Eclipse DemoCamp, kindly hosted by Gentleware, a company devoted to Model Driven Software Development (MSDS) and producing impressive UML tools.
There were about 40 people, nine of them wanted to talk about their projects related to the Eclipse ecosystem. The talks were mainly focused on MSDS, maybe a consequence of the inviting folks ;-).
Volker also gave an introduction to obfuscate4e – our Eclipse Plugin to obfuscate (other) Eclipse plugins. We were unique as this was the only talk about the Eclipse build process.
But the show stopper was the talk "CatChaser: MDSD for Lego Mindstorms" by Frank Zimmermann, who took the Lego mini roboter, created a Eclipse based domain specific language (DSL) and a graphical editor to program this device and made it hunt virtual cats (made by air balloons). Great performance.
Finally it was an interesting trip. We saw informative reports of totally different Eclipse thingies and had much fun. Let’s do it again!
