Gerade erreichte mich die Meldung (im Firefox Add-On Manager), das die Erweiterung ScribeFire in Version 2.0 herausgegeben wurde.

Die neue Version bietet vor allem:

• Gleichzeitiges Bearbeiten mehrerer Blog-Beiträge,
• Quickblogging – schnell mal einen neuen Beitrag abliefern,
• verbesserte YouTube- und Flickr-Integration,
• Polierte Editor-Oberfläche und verbesserter Dialog zur Blog-Konfiguration,
• ...

Und für Alle, die sich nun fragen, was Scribefire ist: Eine Erweiterung für den Browser Firefox, die einen komfortablen Editor für Blog-Beiträge bereitstellt. Probiert es einfach aus ;-)

Kürzlich habe ich ein ziemlich cooles Firefox-Plugin gefunden: GooglePreview

Wenn das Plugin installiert ist, dann wird zu jedem Treffer in der Suchergebnisliste ein kleines Vorschaubildchen mit Screenshot eingefügt. So kann man schnell mal sehen, was einen auf der "nächsten" Seite erwartet. Und Leute mit ausgeprägtem visuellen Erinnerungsvermögen (so wie ich) finden viel leichter eine lang vermisste Website wieder. Und dabei dauert die Suche nicht spürbar länger.

So I found PortableApps – an very promissing suite of portable applications (I wanted firefox with some extensions, a ssh client and an useful editor). Installation was as easy and simple as downloading a 30MB file from their website (the project is hosted on sourceforge.net) and runing the application. It asks for the destination directory – the stick – and copies all neccessary files there. Ready! Additional applications can be installed the same way.

After starting the launcher (an autorun.inf file on the stick starts the launcher if enabled) it resides in the systray. Cool!

As my personal security feature I backed up the stick and can reset it after every usage in an insecure environment (as the class room of a training center is). PortableApps comes with a facility to backup your personal data from a stick or restore them again.

And a last remark: There are plenty of other application suites available. And you can install a lot of portable applications directly (without an application suite as PortableApps) as well.

So first of all I installed these extensions:

1. Firebug: It does a great Job when I want to adopt or inspect a stylesheet of one of my web sites. It’s so easy to use and delivers information as needed … such a huge improvement compared with my prior "tool": Ctrl-U and vi style.css.
2. ScribeFire: Writing Blog entries (as this one) becomes sooo easy!
3. Mister Wong Firefox-Toolbar: Mister Wong is my first choice (german) on-line bookmark service. So its firefox toolbar is your friend to add new bookmark fast and the easy way.
4. Aardvark: Often it hard (or impossible) to get an acceptable  print layout of a web page. With Aardvark I can remove all banners, footers and side bars that I dont need on my printed copy of the page – fast!
5. FoxSaver: It delivers a stack of really nice images in a slide show. All I need to do is not using firefox for a couple of minutes ;-)

As its my blog an a topic I choosed myself, I could extend my list and write about webdeveloper, switchproxy, sage and many other usefull extensions, but I didn’t want to write a book ;-)
